German floating card compass and sun dial produced by Ernst Christophe Stockert (1730-1806) in the late eighteenth century in Nuremburg.
Signed  Stockert on the floating card.
Beautifull hand-coloured paper in crisp, bright colour.
Brass gnomon.
Mounted in a lidded, turned fruitwood case..
60 mm. (2 1/2 inches).
A really fine example of a Stockert compass in outstanding condition.
