A finely constructed model lighthouse in the form of a table lamp. Made from precision machined brass and mounted on a caste bronze and wood base. The lighthouse is fitted with a functioning door to the base, a viewing balcony and a functioning light with alternating green and red lenses.
There was a fashion in the first thirty years of the twentieth century to celebrate the advancement of technological design in line with the Art Deco movement. The modern lighthouse was one of the cult technologies, along with aviation, automobiles and aeroplanes singled out for use in applied interior desgn. This particular lamp is of a superior style and design with all its elements well resolved.
