Produced and published by the Royal Geographical Society in 1834. The British, after establishing a small settlement known as Fort Wellington on the Cobourg Peninsula at Raffles Bay, abandoned it in 1829. Much interest was focused on this part of Australia with expectations of trade with South East Asia. There were numerous attempts to establish trading settlements and all failed due to health and climate.
