Music on the Sea was written to be sung by Miss Poole and Miss Lascelles, popular singers of the mid-nineteenth century.
John Brandard (1812-1863) illustrated many sheet music covers. He was a skilled lithographer and invariably printed by the London firm of M & N Hanhart.
